Venues I Love – Stoke Bruerne, Northamptonshire
You’d be absolutely right to be sitting there thinking Stoke Bruerne isn’t a wedding venue.
I totally agree, but it is a fabulous place to be and therefore one that is worth me bringing to your attention.
I typically use Stoke Bruerne for two key reasons: couples photos on a wedding day, and also engagement and family photos. For both of the above, it offers an environment which has fantastic surroundings, rolling countryside and plenty of little details to make photos interesting.

Most importantly though, I’m not talking about the village by itself. I’m also talking about Lower Lock, and the tow paths leading from there. If you head North, you pass locks, cottages and a nature reserve. If you head south, you pass more lock keepers cottages, the canal bridges and docking areas.

Which way I go depends on who I’m with, and what we’re up to. But both routes offer some interesting options. In particular, I like the vibe that Stoke Bruerne offers my couples to take a little time out together and reflect on their wedding day. More about this in Time Together, linked below.
For engagement and family shoots, given the relaxed atmosphere and surrounding countryside it is perfect for me to start the journey to being your friend not just your photographer. This is really important to me, and you’ll find out why here.

Additionally, up in the village itself are two public houses, both with seating areas on the canal tow paths. These are lovely options after an engagement or family shoot to sit down together, have a soft drink or a beer, and talk more about your amazing wedding day and spitball plans to make it everything you could possibly dream of!
